THE KILLER GETS A NEW SET OF PIPES

After Upgrades such as new heads, intake, carb, and a stall converter I figured that I was choking the car with those 2.25 pipes.  So I decided on doing a 2.5in X-Pipe and Hooker Max Flows to 3in pipes.

Why an X-Pipe?  They are well known for creating impressive numbers some even better then open headers, now I am custom building one so it may not work as well as the pro's but we will see.  Why Hooker Man Flows?  They have a good reputation, a nice deep throaty sound, and boast impressive flow numbers.

Here you can see the X-Pipe I built.  It was fairly simple just 2 bent pipes 2.5in cut a few holes smooth off and weld together. (My dad did the welding for me and I welded on the brace plates.  Next is where it got tough I had to mock up the head pipes and have a shop custom bend each piece.  Turned out ok, I did have to dimple them to clear the drive shaft loop but other then that they bolted up nice to my odd Dynomax Headers.

After that I did the pipes to the mufflers and then began work on the Tailpipes. As for the tails I decided on 3in duals that exited near center under the bumper.  Gives the car a whole different look.  I use the original gas tank strap location to hang the pipes and did mandrel 3in turndowns.

To connect the mufflers and pipes I took it to a shop that did it for $40 it all turned out nice.

So How does it sound you ask?  Well the Max Flows give it a nice rumble at idle and as you wind up through the gears that x-pipe really smoothes it out and they scream under WOT.  Take a listen.
